I upgraded to Fiber Optic today and now my ipad mini won't connect to the internet although it shows a signal

As the title says, we changed to fiber optics today (yay! so speedy) and all our devices (Macbooks, iphones) connect just fine. My ipad mini (about 1 year old) won't connect although it finds the network on the airport effertlessly and shows full signal bars as if it is connected. For all intents and purposes it looks like it is connected, but it isn't. I have done all the usual - turned on and off (router and device), forgotten network, renewed network lease, reset network settings, reset all settings, etc. Everthing! Still not working. Help please!!!!!!

Hello Tom,

So this is the Airport Forum. Hence when you were discussing your "Airport", one assumes you are referring to the Airport Extreme or Airport Express (ie - http://www.apple.com/airport-extreme/ or http://www.apple.com/airport-express/). It is slightly confusing when Apple refers to the Airport being the wireless in devices as well as their wireless routers.

It would help us if you told us what type of connection, for instance I live in the UK and have Fibre Optic (to cabinet) and have a cable modem from Virgin Media, which I have then connected (via ethernet) an Apple Airport Extreme (6th Gen) to distribute the internet connection and my local LAN.

Maybe you had ADSL prior and are now on Fibre via cable?

Hi Tokyo Tom,

You don't specify the equipment that is connected to the Fibre Optic. There has been issues with Firmware on the Airports so first suggestion would be to make sure your uptodate, the latest firmware seems stable for most devices. It does sound like a DNS issue, so check the Airport settings for this, DHCP is the best option and it should get the DNS addresses automatically. And likewise check the iPads DNS settings, again DHCP should sort that out. Give those a try!! Good luck!

I don't think I have Airport. It seems to be some other download or App. I always thought that the wifi connector was called the Airport - that is what is seems to be called on my MacBook Pro.

It seems so unreasonable that my ipad was connecting fine yesterday with the old copper cable and now with the better fiber optic it can't connect. And why only the ipad and not my computer or iphone?

I upgraded to Fiber Optic today and now my ipad mini won't connect to the internet although it shows a signal
