Is there an easy way to get rid of the pops when the p's and b's are spoken from having your mouth too close to the microphone?
Thanks for the help in advance.
If there aren't too many of them you could lower the volume in GarageBand. It would keep you from normalizing down the volume of the entire podcast if you looked at the waveform and set volume decreases for that track in the Track Volume bar that you access by clicking the arrow.
Or if you know approximately what frequency they are at you could put an EQ on the master track and cut that frequency.
Yes, I am familiar with the technique of the screen in front of the mic.
However, I am editing a podcast in GarageBand now in which one of the host did not use the filter and the popping is evident.
Is there no way to remove this, or mask it in some way, in GarageBand now in editing?
What I do is open the sound file in an audio editor (like SoundStudio). The pops are visible as spikes that reach the maximum volume (actually they exceeded it and clipped). I mark those sounds as precisely as possible and lower the volume (using the Normalize feature) so that they don't exceed the general level of the recording, maybe even less. That doesn't change the popping character of those sounds, but it makes it a lot less audible.
