Q: msvcr80.dll is missing

When I start up my laptop, I get the messsage that MSVCR80.dll is missing. Found out my iTunes will not open without it. What is Apple's recommended easiest and safest way to fix the problem? There are a load of suggestions on the Internet, most involving downloading other software. I don't want to do this. Would appreciate any help.
