Microsoft Word Documents & SWOD

One of my teachers is having a terrible issue with this. Everytime she opens a Word document she gets the SWOD.

New iMac 13"

Word 2008 and later 2011

10.8.5

When she opens a document she previously created the SWOD appears and Force-Quit is necessary. Any document she creates from scratch is fine. I have taken these bad files to my machine with same specs and recreated the issue.

We've tried uninstall/reinstall, upgrading to 2011. trashing .plist files and others, deleting and recreating user and trying a new machine. Starting with everything clean except the files I believe those previous files may be corrupt. Is it possible to "clean" those files?

VikingOSX Thanks. Everything is updated. I checked the creation dates and everything is within last month.

rcharles- that is a zoo of problems. I turned off autosave and get the same issue. Either the SWOD or when clicking on the document to open, it will start Word but not enough to open the document. It hangs until I do a force quit.

Documents that I'm able to open, modify and save then cause the same problem when opened again. Different computers, different Word installs. Permissions and disks checked and repaired in Disk Utility.
