Adding LTE to a Wi-Fi iPad

I have a 4th general iPad Wi-Fi only model. Is it possible to add LTE functionality to it with an adaptor or switching the sim card? I am assuming not since the technology probably needs to be pre-built into the motherboard and / or at the very least it would be expensive to add-on. Just wondering. I notice there is a Verizon Wireless Nano 4G LTE SIM Card 4FF. I am not sure if it is for that purpose or not.

Thanks for the link. I saw a device that reflects the MiFi technology being used on the Verizon Web site, which is my current wireless provider. I was hoping it would not involve any add-on fees other than the cost of the device itself. It sounds like the set-up is not user friendly and the connectivity can be a mixed bag. So what does this Verizon 4G LTE SIM card suppose to do?
