Feb 3, 2014 7:35 PM in response to snp_95by IdrisSeabright,iMessage requires that you have a data connection. If you don't want to use data, turn iMessages off. MMS requires data. There's no way around that if you want to send pictures. iPhones sometimes send group messages as MMS. That requires data.

Feb 12, 2014 3:25 PM in response to IdrisSeabrightby snp_95,I do have an SMS plan with my carrier, but I am still not able to receive messages from iPhone users when I don't have data or wifi on. Before iOS 7 I could send and receive SMS messages from any iPhone user, now I can send them, but I do not receive the message until I cut my data on or am in range of wifi. Do the other iPhone users need to make sure their SMS settings are turned on? If this issue persist should I contact my carrier and see if there is an issue with my phone?

Feb 17, 2014 7:38 PM in response to snp_95by Behin,No, it's because those other iphone users are using iMessage to send the messages, IE not as SMS. This means you must have cellular data or wifi to recieve them. The only way around this is to completely disable your iMessage, and even then they may have to delete the thread and start a new one in order for their device to recognize that it needs to send you an sms.
