Appleworks quits continually

Today I had to do something with Appleworks and when I clicked on the app, it kept quitting. Up to this point it was working fine. I dumped the AW app in my applications folder and tried reinstalling it but not even the disc is working, because it too keeps quitting. I can't get it to open and I keep getting this message. I've reported it, but who knows if Apple will even notice the report. Would someone here kindly let me know if I can get it to work again? I've removed the .com.apple.appleworks.plist and trashed it, but to no avail, because it is still doing the same thing. Thanx in advance for any insight. -K

I think you would be better off asking in the Snow Leopard forum. The image you've posted doesn't tell us anything. What you need to do is cause the crash again, then when that notice comes up click somewhere in the text and hit command-a then command-c to copy it.

Then you can past it into a post: hopefully someone in the Snow Leopard forum will have the knowledge (which I don't lay claim to) to read it and perhaps locate the problem.

Hi Kathryne,

According to the crash report header the file you opened is the AppleWorks udater, not the aplication, and not the installer. The updater will not work unless it finds an earlier version of AppleWorks 6 installed on your computer. The earlier version must be in a folder named AppleWorks 6, and that folder must be in your Applications folder. There are several other folders contained in the AppleWorks 6 folder, and if memory serves, at least some of these must also be present.

The Installer will be on the disk(s) that came with your original AppleWorks 6 package.

Is your profile information correct? If you have updated the OS beyond Snow Leopard, AppleWorks will no longer work on your machine without running Snow Leopard on Parallels Desktop, or similar software.

Barry

Hi Barry,

I took an updater for AW off of the internet and downloaded it. When I tried to open it to install it, it showed me the image. So, that is what you are seeing in the header of the image I provided above. Since the installer on the CD cannot be installed, what I did was to take the AW app from my external (backup) HD and drag the AW folder and placed it into my applications folder. When I tried opening it, it still quit, only the window this time shows as, "Appleworks 6 unexpectedly quit." The AW cd I have, is the complete package.

I'm not quite clear or understanding what profile information you are talking about that should be correct?

Thank you,

Kathryne
