Hi, I cannot get my IMac to connect to my Canon Pixma MP500. I went to the canon site and it says:
There is no driver for the OS Version you selected. The driver may be included in your OS or you may not need a driver. |
And the options my Mac provides does not include the one I need. Does this mean I need to get a new printer?!!!
Has anyone had luck using other driver to get your canon to print???

The last version of driver that Canon released for this model was for Mac OS X 10.7. You could try to install this driver. But it is not digitally signed, so Gatekeeper will block the installation. To get past Gatekeeper, you can Control-click on the driver installer and select Open from the pop-up window that appears. You will then get an option to install the driver.

Thank you so much for your recommendation. I was able to get my printer to print. Finally! Unfortunately, the scanning options are not responding.
If you know how I could also get it to scan, please let me know. For now, I'm just greatful to be printing.

Here is a link to the MP500 scanner driver and Canon's MP Navigator scanning application that were last released for Mac OS X 10.7. Like the printer driver, neither are digitally signed so you will have to use the workaround above to install them. Hopefully once installed you will be able to scan using the MP Navigator application.
