cannot sign in to itunes store with Apple ID

I am trying to update my apps on itunes store on my mac and it ask me to sign in with my Apple ID (I don't remember it asking this the last time I update my apps on my mac). I type in my password and it tells me that it's wrong. I have not changed it. I just used it a couple of days ago to download an app on my iphone. Did Apple's security got breached?
