HP psc 1300 printer

I recently installed OS X Mavericks and my HP psc 1300 printer no longer prints in black and white. Instead, it defaults to color. Would anyone know how to fix this? Many thanks

There is probably a setting for this in the print dialog that pops up if you try to print something. For example, with my HP printer, it looks like this:

User uploaded file

If you don't see an option like that, then maybe you need updated printer software from HP. Take a look on their website.
