Why do you lie about the total amount of storage on an iPod???

My iPod is an 8 gig iPod and my storage is full so I went to the storage in my settings and it says its only 6.4 gigs! Why did you lie?

iPod touch, iOS 6.1.5

The difference is due to the operating system taking up most to the difference and a little by how GB is advertised and used
