I see you have Genieo installed, which is at best adware and a couple of anti-malware vendors classify it as malware.

Follow these instructions very carefully to remove it all Adware Removal Guide : Genieo. If you find the file /private/etc/launchd.conf then it must be removed prior to rebooting your mac or you will not be able to log in again. Be sure you have a complete and valid backup before attempting to uninstall it.

Keyboard Spy is spyware. If you didn't install it yourself, you should probably report it to proper authority.

Java is very out-dated and must be disabled in all your browsers until properly updated.

Use of BitTorrent is highly discouraged.

Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks.

To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.

  • iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) model number 7,1 or higher
  • MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) model number 5,1 or higher
  • MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
  • MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) model number 2,1 or higher
  • Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
  • Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
  • Xserve (Early 2009) model number 3,1 or higher

Your Mac needs:

  • OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
  • 2 GB or more of memory (More is better - 4 GB minimum seems to be the consensus)
  • 8 GB or more of available space

Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.

I have a 2008 MacPro

Can you help me.

Mac OS X Version 10.6.8

Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Memory 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

Then you have misidentified your Mac. 2008 MacPros have 2.8 (or 3.0 or 3.2 Ghz) Intel Xeon processors.

A MacPro is a desktop Mac, You may actually have a MacBook Pro, which is a laptop.

Click on the Apple menu's, "About This Mac," System Report to identify your Mac.
