Mountain Lion and mac mini backups?

I'm new to the apple community but hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

We have an Apple OSX Server that we would like to run Time Machine on (OSX Mountain Lion).

We have 7 mac minis setup wirelessly throughtout our district (OSX Maverick).

Is there a way to setup the mac minis to backup to time machine on mountain lion osx server?

The server is hard wired while the mac minis are wireless.

I turned on time machine on the mac minis but they do not see the osx server, they only look for airport extreme. Do I need to configure something to allow it to search for the osx server or can I not do the backups to the server and need to look into a new backup configuration? I'm worried about losing my apple configurator profiles if i lose a mac mini.
