Thanks for the question, and great troubleshooting so far. Let’s perform a hard reset of your AirPort base station for troubleshooting purposes:
Under what circumstances will I need to do a reset?
- Hard reset: Perform this reset for troubleshooting and resolving problems with an unresponsive device, or to troubleshoot network accessibility issues.
I have the same problem as jsteingraber. I have tried a Soft reset, Hard reset, and a factory restore each with the same result... it only fixes the problem temporaily. I have tried downgrading the firmware on both my AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express as this problem on recenly began manifesting istself. I am beyond frustrated and it appears that I am not alone - there are several threads reakting to similar issues.
I have a dual band router - 2.4GHz and 5GHz. I switched to using entirely 5GHz and no more disconnection problems with my Airport Express from my devices. I have a two floor flat and am still getting good wi-fi signals throughout the flat. I was getting a lot of interference from neighbors. I am entirely on Apple with pretty updated hardware so everything can support 5GHz.
