My Ipad (4?) screen went black but I can hear it. I tried hitting both the sstart button and sleep button for 10 seconds and the apple icon comes up, my screen saver shows for 1 second and it returns to black screen again. I can hear SIRI. How do I fix?

I had been using the IPAD and all of a sudden it started talking back to me and when swiping apps to close them they would not close. She (the IPAD) kept talking back to me such as "use three fingers" etc. Then the screen went blank and if I touched it I could get it to beep at various touch points. SIRI would also communicate, but the screen stayed black.

As was suggested here, I tried getting a reboot by holding the sleep key with the home key and after 10 seconds the apple logo shows and 5 seconds later my screen saver comes on for just one second, and then it goes back to a black screen. SIRI tells me shes not available and someone else, must be her sister, says things like 90%, 85%, 80% if I continually swipe the screen. Can anyone help me?

This sounds like screen curtain may be enabled. Screen curtain is a feature that allows display privacy. To disable screen curtain while VoiceOver is enabled, you can three finger triple tap the screen to disable this feature. You may need to press the home button once in order to process these steps. If you wish to disable VoiceOver, see the link in the article below.

I cannot thank you enough Jason H! I fell asleep holding my ipad and when I woke up it was in the same state as the topic creator's. I just thought it finally died, I did get it used on ebay over a year ago. I was literally shopping for a new ipad and I thought maybe I should google and see if it's a common issue first. When holding the home and power buttons together didn't work, I happened to find this post next. I thought no way! Did I really tap the screen in some strange way while dozing off? It wouldn't be the strangest thing I've done in my sleep while on my ipad. I woke up one time as the embarrassed new owner of a handmade, needle felted, wool poodle all the way from Japan for an outrageous $50 bucks! I wasn't looking at the listing, and had never seen it before ever, I swear!! What are the odds of my hand hitting all the buttons just right in the ebay app? Especially when it takes 3 separate buttons on 3 different pages, but they're close together so watch out!

Anyways, thank you! I truly don't think I would've been able to fix this without finding your post! You deserve a cookie and a raise!

The display has come back on; thank you however I now have the keyboard showing halfway & I can't get into my settings...I need to disconnect the voice over...thank

I have just the same problem and tried the three finger taps but it did not work. I tried three fingers together and one after the other but nothing happened. What else can I do?
