How do I access web sites/applications that do not support Safari, Firefox, or Chrome?

I want to use an internet application that is optimized for Internet Explorer, and explicitly does not support Safari, Firefox, or Chrome. How does Safari work with that?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
