Q: disc burner or software not found

have gone everywhere to try self-fix of disc burner software! am wary of going to BIOS to see if driver exists or using system restore! am techno-challenged and wish it could be a one-click fix! i do see message saying iTUNES incompatability exists when i did troubleshooting. posted for HELP before but had hard time due to fear of losing 700+ songs. HP was not much help when i tried to find CD program or chip as i do not know what it called in computerese. prior to my experiencing this prob i had a shop change my cooling fan but when i called back shop to complain about this i was told they could not have damaged or removed cd driver or program!? am at wits-end & not know how to proceed. i have always known computers can be unforgiving! should i take HP laptop somewhere for professional repair? is iTUNES latest version at fault for my dilemma? am OLD & just want to listen to music.

i do see where someone posted trick to do registry keys & then saw a warning about messing with this can cause more issues! who at iTUNES designs updates that cause buggy issues after you download!? what happens if i uninstall iTUNES from computer and then try a new i TUNES download? will it fix itself, which i much prefer to do unless i lose all my songs? i do also have an iPOD & can i import tunes from iPOD to iTUNES just in case i lose my tunes and my mind in the process? am desperate for any quick & easy fix idea that does not involve my messing with computer guts since i do not know what i am doing....HELP please
