Redeeming warranty on iPhone 5 charger.

How do I go about getting my charging cord replaced? I have had this cord for 7 months and it is already broken and will not charge my phone or iPad. I live 2 hours away from an apple store and the gas alone to get there would be more than the actual cord. Is there a mailing address or can I take it to my cell phone carrier since thats where I purchased the phone?
