Only plays music from iPhone/iPad when mirroring

Ok, after I updated my iPad to the 7.0.3, my Apple TV won't play the music without mirroring. It shows that the song is on there; however, it will not play any audio unless I turn mirroring on. Now it is starting to do it to my phone. My question is is there anyway to get my Apple TV to play my music from my devices without mirroring or is that part of the update, mandatory mirroring listening?
