i got a facetime call from an unknown number

When I just checked my phone I had received 5 missed calls through facetime from an unknown number. When I called back through Facetime it wasn't answered. When I called the number back the regular way it was answered by somebody unknown to me. Leaving us both very puzzled on how this happened.

So, what happened?
