How to eject a disc from the slot drive?

How to eject a disc from the slot drive? Tried holding down trackpad button while starting up but not working. Also on starting up my 10yr old g4 gives the boing and then goes to grey screen with apple logo and that's it...

iBook, Mac OS X (10.7.5)
