export DISPLAY does not work after last security update

Hi everybody,

I have a linux box that I use by ssh connection. For all the X11 staff, I was exporting the DISPLAY to my Mac's X11 server, and then use them (after using xhost + command on my Mac of course).

It has been working until today. What I do:

Open X11, then launch xterm. then:
xhost +
ssh -X hostname
export DISPLAY=my macsip:0

then launch X programs and DISPLAY them locally.

Can you please help? (I think that it is related with the latest security update)

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance...

MacBook Pro 2.16,ibook g4 1.33, Compaq evo n800v p4-M 2.0, Mac OS X (10.4.7), and Linux on my compaq ;) Unix rules... ;)

hi - i think you should not use 'xhost +' - it's not secure and you shouldn't need it....

in your .bashrc or .cshrc or whatever, you should have setenv DISPLAY 😮.0 or the equivalent export...
then ssh -Y hostname should be all you need... no xhost, and not setting DISPLAY every time...

could you enter the following command from a terminal window and post back the results?
grep X11 /etc/ssh*_config

cheers
