How do I import an iMovie Mobile project saved to my desktop into iMovie 10.0.2

I have made several movies in the current iMovie app on my iPad 3 and shared them to iTunes and saved them to my Mac desktop. However, when I try to import these into iMovie 10.0.2, these projects are greyed out and cannot be imported and previous instructions on how to import do not work at the drop down menus are now different.

Specifically, the instruction in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4792 and http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3240

- Open iMovie on your Mac, and choose File > Import > iMovie for iOS Project.

does not work because the File menu does not have Import>iMovie for iOS Project.

Thank you for any tips on how to overcome the last hurdle.
