lucky you its only the top cover / keyboard / trackpad
and not the logic board
olive oil is some slimy nasty mess to pour inside a macbook
about 35+% of that is labor costs, it takes TOTAL teardown to remove those parts
the top of a spill is the bottom to reach in parts replacement.
I bet you do have problems with your keys.
no lubrication is recommended.
Liquid spills, why your MacBook chassis is a one-way valve for spills
After a substantial spill many people will turn their notebook upside down and shake it, not only does this not work, but it spreads liquid havoc throughout your machine and makes things often as bad as possible.
The keyboard itself acts like a one way valve in the case of a substantial liquid spill. While liquid pours into the bottom chassis easy, it does not come out easily at all, and in the case of any spill, most of it will not come out by turning it upside down. Disconnect all power and contact Apple for diagnostics and repair.
Do not attempt to, after a spill, âdry out your MacBookâ and test it
After a spill most people invariably try to âdry outâ their notebook by various methods, including hair dryers and otherwise. This both does not work, and after a substantial spill of any magnitude, even if the liquid was water, residue is left behind.
There are additionally many very tight places inside your notebook where liquids will linger for a very long time, and cause corrosion or worse.
Immediately unplug your notebook and contact Apple for in shop diagnostics and parts replacement.
In the case of very minor spills people will âdry outâ their notebook and feel success that their notebook is working ok, however invariably in nearly all instances after 4-14 days an error / fault pops up and is usually followed by more.
In case of a spill, damage estimates are impossible,.....anything can be fixed, without question.......the question is cost.
contact Apple for in shop diagnostics and cost estimation ....possible parts replacement. đ
Turn it off and try vacuuming.
But put a sock over the nozzle before vacuuming because keys can come off. The sock will keep the keys getting sucked into the vacuum.
After that put a towel on the keyboard, close the computer and turn it upside down. Let it sit as long as possible.
Some good news is electronics and mineral oil mix well. The same may be true for olive oil. So you may be lucky it was oil instead of water or some other condictive and/or corrosive fluid.

Claim on your insurance. It's a write-off.
Gotta agree with Klaus on this one. The thing would have to be stripped and ultrasonically cleaned in solvent to eliminate the gunk in order to restore some expectancy of reliability. Then all mechanicals would need to be refurbished if the oil got to them before reassembly.
And if any oil is left inside, the smell of rancid nut will start wafting after awhile.
Yeah, cost is around 350 dollars. They are changing up cover . Still it is a lot đ
Well, lucky is the only thing i am not. That is for sure! I hope it will solve my problem. Thanks for the replies.
I concur. As the oil gathers dust and other contaminants it can become electricallly conductive. So even if it works in the short run it is likely to be unreliable in the long run.
