Mac OSX Mavericks: How to setup networking to a Win8 Machine?

Hi all, I've got OSX Mavericks and I want to access a folder on a Windows 8 PC that is sitting right next to it. How can I easily access the data?

Please help me.

Is there another guide I can look at?

I just want to be able to copy a folder from my Win8 machine and paste it on my Mac Mini!
