I have a folder on my desktop, labeled i-photo library, it contains all my albums from i photo that i had inadvertently deleted. The problem is they are not j.pegs but documents. How do I get them back to j.pegs?

what version of iPHoto? Of the OS? How did you "inadvertently" delete and what exactly did you delete?
What do youy mean by albums? In iPHoto albums do not actaully exist - they are logical organizational elements and are only pointers to photos in the library? what happens when you launch iPhto? Do you have an iPhoto library in yoru pictures folder?
