Just bought a brand new MacBook Air and I'm currently setting it all up but the speakers are not working. I haven't played any music and the first YouTube video I played started playing normally but then sounded like the speakers had blown or something. Muffled and crackly. Does anyone know why this might be? Or do I need to take it back? Thanks.

if youre getting cracking noise , hardware fault.
however, try a regular MP3 music song, forget about youtube and test a regular song first

Thank you. Just played a normal MP3 on iTunes and it worked for a few seconds and then went crackly again. However, the volume up and down sounds work perfectly. So confused! It is brand new today.
yes, no need at all in fussing with a new machine, thats a speaker hardware issue.
return it and grab a shiny new one. 😊
