Printing a multipage spreadsheet is cutting off the top of each page.

I am trying to print a multipage spreadsheet in numbers that I have been using for a couple of years with no problems. Since converting to Numbers 3.1 and upgrading the spreadsheet to this new format I cannot get the spreadsheet to print properly. The top row of every page of the 20 page spreadsheet get cut off by about 75% making all the information in that row unreadable. I have tried the fit to page function, I have tried reducing the size but nothing works. Any ideas?

Hi Denois,

A couple of tips to help with layout now that Print View is reduced to the non-editable Print Preview.

Numbers > Preferences > Rulers > Tick every box

View > Show Rulers

You can drag Alignment Guides from the rulers too.

The rulers show the borders of the printed page a 0,0 (but they don't print).

Go back to Numbers '09. Hopefully you have a backup to rebuild from. If not, open your document in Numbers Version 3 and Export it back to Numbers Version 2.

Thanks, taking it back to '09 did work. I keep hoping that there is a solution to the issue in the new program but I guess there isn't. Pulling the rulers and guides doesn't help for the pages beyond page one and who wants to try and pull 20 pages of guides from the rulers when you can just exported it back to '09 and get a print view and it prints in no time at all. The upgrade to numbers 3.1 has been a GIANT disappointment!

Denois,

Numbers 3. is hopeless for publishing to paper or PDF where layout is critical. Give it a year or so to mature.

Hi Denois,

Have you seen the workarounds thread? Among other things, a workaround for margins (though not sure if this is a margin problem) is described in the two posts starting here. It might help make working with Numbers 3 more tolerable.
