DVD will not pause after burning

The DVD I create with iDVD will not pause after burning. I've tried various DVD players with the same result. Everything else about the disc seems fine. I'm using a DVD-R disc, with iDVD 5.0.1

I have burned DVDs in the past without this problem! I seriously need advice, thanks!!

Hello art isshiny,

By "pause" I mean that when I press "pause" on my DVD player

I knew it was me not getting it ....

Do you press Pause during the menu or the movie(s)? Pressing Pause during the menu is a so-called "prohibited action", but of course while watching the movie it should work. Does the same thing happen when you play your DVD on your Mac?

let us know

I'm sure I was just being incoherant. My question made sense in my own head (which is not always a good sign).

I try to press pause during a slide show, and on my regular DVD player it says "prohibited action" and on my computer it just skips ahead or ignores me.

I just want to be able to show pictures on my TV, and pause them to look at them for however long I want. I'm a little frustrated with iDVD, and I'm wasting DVD discs, sigh.

Hello art isshiny,

if you feel that you have performance issues on your Mac in general (and iDVD in particular), try to do the following:

1. find the file com.apple.iDVD.plist and trash it, then empty the trash.
2. free up some space on your hard drive (20 GB should be free when working with iDVD)
3. repair permissions with Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities) and reboot.
4. run software like DiskWarrior or Macjanitor

hope this helps
