Q: Emac can't get startup disc out because there is no operating system onboard.
Emac 800Mhz 2000 model.
I erased the hard drive of the system using disk utitlity. This took nearly a week. Then I stupidly tried to install the operating system again using an upgrade disc. It is refusing to install, obviously, but also I can''t get the blasted disc out now. Tried holding eject key on restart, holding option key -> gives the choose startup disk screen but didn't help. The only way I can think of is to link the computer to another Mac and try to use the other Mac's OS to boot and then eject, but don't know if this will work and it seems like a lot of hassle. I have lost the original Emac install discs.
Any ideas on the subject?
Thanks

Hi,
>Tried holding eject key on restart,
Any change if you press and hold down the mouse key instead?
>link the computer to another Mac and try to use the other Mac's OS to boot
