Redeeming an iTunes Gift Certificate in another store

Hey all,

I just sent a frient an iTunes gift certificate for a certain amount of money. However, it turns out my friend has an account associated with the US store, while mine is in another store; so when he tries to redeem it, he gets an error message saying this gift certificate isn't redeemable in his store.

What can I do about this?
