background in new pages??

hi all,

in the old pages it was easy to put a picture or a form or a colourfield or whatever object as background for all pages or some single pages, just by clicking "background" when the object was selected. then it was easy to write over this object or put other pictures over it or do whatever completely independent of the background.

i look for hours and try all, but i cant find this function in the new version ....

PLEASE HELP ME!
