When I turn my iPad mini retina on, it starts up and gets locked immediately. I have to unlock it to use it. There is no passcode set to unlock and auto lock is set to never. What should I do so that it doesn't get locked as soon as it starts because it is very irritating.

Settings>General>Passcode Lock>Off (you have to enter passcode to turn off)
I have already removed the passcode. That is not the question. In other words, as soon as it starts, the display goes off and it sleeps. I have to press the home or power button and slide to unlock which is an unnecessary extra step during start.
It should not go back to sleep.
Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.
I just tried the reset. It didn't solve the problem.
Hopefully other iPad Mini (Retina) user can verify if that's normal or abnormal.
I don't think it is normal. It is like starting it twice to use it. For this reason I never shut it down and only put it to sleep and because it has a good battery, it remains at the same level even when left sleeping overnight. Though it is not much of a problem, I need to find the solution. We will see what others have to say.
