I have just bought a new ipad and uploaded my data from icloud. My wife is going to have my old ipad, but wants her own data and emails etc. How does she set up a new icloud acount on the old ipad and sync to her own emails? Most importantly, she wants to keep some of the kids' games on there, as there will be WW3 if they get lost!
Secondly, if she then updates to ios7, will those apps be lost?

You can each have different Apple IDs to keep your iCloud data separate but still share the same Apple ID for purchases (Apps, music, movies, etc...)
Use the shared ID here:
Settings > iTunes & App Stores
and your separate accounts everywhere else (iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime)

Once done, setup the iPad using HER ID for iCloud. For the iTunes/App store, she can continue to use the old ID: Settings>iTunes/App Store...sign in here using the old ID.
The iCloud ID has nothing to do with the iTunes/App store.

Hold the app icon until it wiggles then tap the "X".
This will not effect the apps on her iPad.
iTunes content is different from iCloud. Just don't install any content.
but the apps were originally installed under my itunes id!
If I change the old ipad to her itunes id will I lose the apps?
Then use your ID for the iTunes/App store on her phone & use her ID for iCloud.

Sorry, wjosten, one last question; if I follow the directions you linked to, won't that delete all the apps that are on the old ipad? Won't the kisd lose all their progress on their games?
Yep.
If you don't want to do that, do this: Settings>iCloud...turn everything off, including Find My iPad...you'll be prompted to keep the data on the phone or delete it, your choice. Then, scroll down, Delete Account. Then, setup iCloud using HER ID, & leave everything else alone. This won't change any apps on the iPad or the iTunes/App store.

I would also sign out as you and in as her here too:
Settings > iMessage > Send & Receive
Settings > FaceTime
That's done when you turn them off under Settings, then Settings>iCloud, as I stated: "turn everything off".

I didn't think it did so I just tried it on my iPad Air and deleting the iCloud account did not sign me out of iMessage or FaceTime.
