Embarqmail mail won't send on iPhone
I've tried deleting account and putting all CORRECT info in, but I still can't get mail to send. I can send from my Gmail account just fine from iPhone.... Help!

Error message is "The connection to the outgoing server "smtp.embarqmail.com" failed. I'll call them and see if they can help, too. I'll report back! Thanks for answering so quickly! LOVE Apple people!
Just got off the phone with embarq people - all my settings are correct :-( I've tried deleting the account and starting all over again, and it does "verify" but I still can't get mail to send from this account - ggggrrrrrrrrrr!
Okay. Sending mail has to do with the SMTP server. When you removed the account from the iPhone, and before you add it back, check in Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars and select your other account. Find the Outgoing Mail server and then tap on SMTP and see if you see anything listed in Other SMTP servers. If not, then go ahead and add the account back. Make sure when adding, that you put the username and password in all sections, even where they say optional.
When you talked to them on the phone, did they indicate they support sending mail on a smartphone like the iPhone? Just a question.
I know this is an old thread, but just found it and followed Chris' advice -added in username and password in smtp "optional" fields and voila!...I'd been struggling with this issue for sometime and Embarqmail (DBA CenturyLink) was clueless as to how to resolve this issue. Thanks Chris!
Have you contacted the provider to verify the settings? What do they say? What error are you seeing when you attempt to send mail?
