Oregon Trail?

that game was boring...anyways, i think that game is "Classic", so it won't work on intel macs

I have the Oregon Trail V5 game installed on my ibook G4. It runs natively in OSX, and it is published by the Learning Company. I like the game a lot. I had to install the font New York to get the game to work. The program expects that font to be present - I guess it is showing its age. There was a time when all macs had this font installed. i think It is a carryover from the Classic days.

guess I was right, haven't seen one of those in over 10 years. man I remember alot of games that were on those things

after reading this post I REALLY WANT THIS GAME for some reason. I looked around and found some sites to download it but the links are inactive. does anyone know where I can download this game at?

which version of oregon trail are you guys talking about?

i use to love the third one! my secret was to choose the lowest ranked occupation (more points at the end), upgrade the trading skills, then buy all the oxen for $11 or how much they are and trade it to people for much more at the beginning town! with a bit of patience (alot, i should say!), you will have over $10,000 and more!!! yeepee!

i know...i'm a loser.

but i love continuing my trail immediately without proper burial even after someone dies! who cares about morale 🙂 but my favorite has to be when the all the buffaloes run wild (hundreds of them!) and you get to hunt bazillion of them and carry only 150 pounds of meat! and also at the end of the journey where you have to caulk the wagon and float the river of death! the music and gameplay is so intense!

Your should make sure you have the font New York installed to make the game work. I am assuming the game will work OK in the Rosetta environment on a Macbook.

After reading this topic I had to dig up my old copy... Released 1991!

I had to load it in Classic and drop my monitor down to 256 colours (the game made the rest of the system all psychedelic-coloured, too), but it worked. What a blast from the past...

G4 dual-533 Mac OS X (10.4.6)

i have a macbook and can not play oregon trail. i got the game from when i had an ibook and the previous OS and it ran fine, but tiger does not have a font called "new york" and will not run the game unless you download out. i've been looking everywhere for the font but can't find it. good luck!
