Feb 8, 2014 9:29 AM in response to imhereagainby sheila_m.,Hello imhereagain,
Thank you for the details of the issue you experiencing with the SuperDrive Firmware Update 3.0. I found an article with some useful information that I think might help.
I recommend reviewing the full article below, but this specifically stood out to me for the issue you described:
This update requires that the following EFI Firmware updates be installed first:
Mac mini EFI Firmware Update 1.2
MacBook EFI Firmware Update 1.4
MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.8
Note: Some USB and FireWire devices may prevent firmware updates from installing correctly; disconnect non-essential devices and use only an Apple keyboard and mouse to apply the update.
I also recommend reviewing the Additional Information section to find out if your Mac requires this update and if the update is successfully installed. You can find the full article here:
About SuperDrive Firmware Update 3.0
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3744
I recommend continuing with the following article if the error still appears after following those steps:
Mac OS X v10.6.4 and later: Unable to Install SuperDrive Firmware Update 3.0
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3626
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Best,
Sheila M.
