Q: My iPad with retina display 3 or 4 has performance issues using Airplay. My iPad 2 doesn't have the same trouble and they have the same settings and iOS.

I am a teacher and I have 3 iPads that I use daily in my classroom. We use airplay to connect to our AppleTV frequently. The two iPad 2s work fine using mirroring using Airplay. My iPad 3 or 4 has performance issues when I try to mirror.  They all have iOS 7.0.4. They are all connected to the correct router. It really seems like the problem has to be with the newer iPad because the other 2 iPads will work just fine seconds after giving up on the newer one.

iPad, iOS 7.0.4

Welcome to the Apple Community Cory.

Different devices may have slightly differing performance levels, but if you are encountering issues it is more likely to be a network related problem, however...

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.

    1. Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
    2. Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
    3. Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
    4. Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    5. Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    6. Restart your mobile device.
