Q: when i open an attachment to an email why isn't there an back button or a way to go back to the last page without pushing the center button & going back to the beginning

First ipad mini, How can i stay in my email acct. without going back to beginning, is there a way to go back or back button without going back to home page.

    It seems to me this behavior depends on the type and/or size of the attachment.

     

    For example, if I have a small PDF attachment in the email, I can open it and still see, for example, the pointer back to the Inbox, as well as the arrows to the next/previous email messages.
