Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

I keep trying to download the newest version of Adobe flash player. It looks like it is downloading but every time I try to play a flash video it says I have an outdated version. It says my antivirus software is stopping it but I'm not aware of having any

I have been trying to download the latest Flash Player update and it appears to update but when I try to play any kind of flash it says it doesn't have the latest version. I believe it said at one point hat my antivirus software was stopping it but I was not aware I had antivirus software. If so , how do I get it to allow the download?

This shows up on the pop up that you click on to download the update ...

“Install Adobe Flash Player” is on the disk image “AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_12_ltrosxd_aaa_aih-3.dmg”. Safari downloaded this disk image today at 3:20 AM from get.adobe.com.

Try downloading using this link -

http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/mac/install_f lash_player_12_osx.dmg

Also try this -

In the Safari preferences, under General, check the box which says: Open "safe" files after downloading.

No guarantees that either of these two suggestions will resolve the ptoblem, but they are worth trying. If you have another browser, such as Firefox, try downloading using that browser instead of Safari. Also, make sure that all applications are closed when you start the installation process from the disk image.

Good luck.

Apple has built-in malware protection in OS X. This malware protection was just updated by Apple to exclude all earlier versions of Adobe Flashplayer. The current version is 12.0.0.44.

You should not be downloading Adobe Flash Player from anywhere but Adobe's official download site.

Once you download it, it will go into your logindir/Downloads folder. Quit all browsers, and System Preferences (if it is open). Next to your Trash icon in the Dock is an alias to your Downloads folder. Click once, and the bottom item will be the just downloaded Flash Player installer. Single-click this installer. The Adobe Flash Player Installer will mount to your Desktop and open a window. Double-click on Install Adobe Flash Player. When done, right-click on the mounted Adobe Flash Player Installer Desktop icon and select Eject...

In the future, use the Flash Player preference from System Preferences to update itself. Once the installer mounts on the Desktop, close System Preferences, or Flash preference panel will not get updated correctly.
