Q: How can I use Image Capture with an Ethernet connected scanner/printer (through the router)?

The scanner of my Epson Aculaser CX11N is not supported by maverick. I'm adviced to use Image Capture. But this only works when the scanner is connected through USB with my Mac. But the Epson is connected to the router with Ethernet. Then Image Capture doesn't recognize the scanner. Please advice.

If the Epson does not support Bonjour then you are not going to be able to use Image Capture.

If you have an older Mac with OS X 10.8 or earlier, you could connect the Epson to that Mac via USB and enable Scanner Sharing.

Or just connect the Epson to the 10.9 Mac via USB when you need to scan.
