Why does Netflix freeze my new Macbook Pro?

About a week after getting my new macbook pro I was watching Netflix and the episode froze in one spot and I kept hearing a faultering sound. I couldn't open the Task Manager equivalent and couldn't escape so I had to force shut off my computer. Now once or twice a day while watching Netflix it does this and I have no idea how to fix it. I've tried reinstalling Silverlight but nothing works. HELP!😠

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)
