Trade in brand new iPod Touch at apple store?

I bought an iPod Touch 5th Gen 16 gigabyte ($229) for my birthday. I just realized that it does not have the back camera. It is still on my way to me. The newer ipod touch 32 gig with the colored backs do. I bought the ipod directly from apple, is is possible to trade it in without sending it back, waiting for a refund, and then going and buying another one? Is there any way I can take it to my local apple store for credit that can apply towards a new colored one? I will not open it.
