Q: Bluetooth Pairing Problems with Windows Computers

I purchased a Scosche Bluetooth USB Dongle for use with our households iPhones and iPad, primarily to access music from our desktop computers.  One is a Windows 7 the other is XP.  I cannot even get to that point because I cannot get the dongle to properly pair with either of our iPhones or iPad.  This is what happens:

  • Plug in dongle to computer's USB
  • Software on screen recognizes iPhone/iPad
  • Pin screen comes up on iPhone/iPad and matches the code created by dongle (I also tried a manual code)
  • On iPhone/iPad Bluetooth screen -> Devices show "Connected"
  • Once tapped, it says:  Connection Unsuccessful....Computer Name is not supported
  • It then only allows me to forget the device

Ok, so then it appeared to me that the computer is trying to find drivers for the iPhone/iPad, however, it doesn't do this sucessfully.

My question is, how can I install the correct drivers for my iPhone/iPad?  Windows cannot find them automaticaly for some reason.

Thanks for your help!

These are the supported Bluetooth profiles: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3647

There is no support for Bluetooth connections to PCs or iPhones except for Internet Tethering (Personal Hotspot via PAN on iPhone) or for using third-party apps that provide peer-to-peer Bluetooth connectivity between iOS devices running the same app (such as photo sharing apps, e.g., Photo Transfer, multi-player games, etc).

Wifi would be a better for music access via Home Sharing.
