I recently purchased an iPhone online and it is loced and disabled. I attempted to connect to iTunes and add new device however this has not worked. How do I unlock this phone and reset it?

What exactly are you trying to do? What email and password, are you referring to your Apple ID and password? If so, see these support links to recover.
Follow the instructions in the support document that you linked to the forum with. That is how you restore the device that is disabled with the forgotten passcode.
I followed these steps and the phone began updating to do the restore. Part way through, however, the phone stopped updating and the same "Phone Disabled, connect to iTunes" message appeared on the phone. What now?
What version of the iPhone are you using? What iOS? What computer OS are you using? Was your phone disabled because of a forgotten passcode? Had you ever synced your phone to a computer, and were you using that same computer to restore?
I let the phone finish updating, reattached it, and the restore went through. Thanks for your help.
