After daily kernel panics, did a HD verify/repair per Apple Support and it seemed to stop. Is the 32GB memory from apple or did you put it in?Did apple support ask you to run apple hardware test?

Look at this article and run the test.  Your new iMac is a really nice computer and should not be panicing daily.  If this test says the system is AOK, then it is likely a software problem and a reinstall of the OS after a HD check can often fix it.http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5781

Thanks - I did the diagnostics and it found no problem.  Reinstall of OS i guess is my only next step?

Yeah, it won&#x27;t hurt and could fix the issue.  Before that, try to create a new user account and log into that account.  Use the mac for a while and see if the problem persists.

I found this thread because of HD-PATU3, the Buffalo drive we have in common. I&#x27;m on a MacBookPro10,1. I had a rash of kernel panics and stopped using the drive. I have recently started using it again and the problem has returned. I was plugging the drive into the second Thunderbolt port on the MBP. I have just switched it back to being connected to the Thunderbolt Display. We&#x27;ll see how this does (my recollection is this shouldn&#x27;t be a problem). So either I have a bad TB port on the MBP or the Buffalo drive doesn&#x27;t like to be connected directly to the MBP. Or the cause could be something else entirely. Sigh.
