My iPhone5c can connect to internet but my Mac Pro can't

I just moved to this place and trying to connect the internet, i get a yellow light on the wifi i connect to. the password is correct, safari says You are not connected to the Internet.

i've tried 192.168.1.1, 192.169.0.1 to access the router, but all with no not connected to internet. I also tried to PING it but still no luck.

I've a 169.254.xxx.xxx ipv4, and no ip on router. I tried to click Renew it just goes back to the same IP

I've checked this article

and i found out some information on my iphone

IP Address 192.168.1.22

Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0

Router 192.168.1.251

DNS 8.8.8.8, 217.12.181.97

What should i do now!?

P.S other flatmates are having the same problem(no internet) on their Windows

The Routers IP address is 192.168.1.251. Not 192.168.1.1 or x.x.0.1. Which seems to normal for ISP supplied modem router combo boxes.

If this is a new router then the password for the WiFi (and the main login password) should be on a label someplace on the outside of that box.

how do i get internet on my MAC though!?

If you want to connect to and configure the router that is a IP address you'll have to use. It is the routers internal IP address.

Do you actually have an internet connection at this new place you just moved to?

You first need to have an account with some Internet Service Provider, ISP, at this new location. Just having a router doesn't get you access to the internet.

Yes, the phone works fine. i'm not sure what happens on the Mac and PC

Thank you for your help, this was actually for my GF, she said the landlord knows the issue and will come and help her fix it on Wed. She got annoyed of me speaking to her on the phone about this.

I suspect the phone isn't really connecting to the WiFi and it is using the 3 or 4 G (Cell Data) connection.

Although if the landlord setup some type of MAC filtering that could also stop the computers from connecting.

Actually it is. It's impossible for her to use 3 or 4g because she don't have it.

So like you said it's possible the landlord did something to the router. Thanks for your help anyway

I don't know of any modern phone that doesn't have 3 or 4 G system built in. That is if the phone is actually registered to a Cell provider.

What i mean is she doesn't use the 3g or 4g system. She only uses 2g to call and wifi to browse and tweet if she needs it. I know...but 3g is expensive in her home country and pointless if she can use free Wifi.
