Welcome to the Support Communities!
It sounds like you are syncing the music to your iPod nano correctly, because it is showing on the device in iTunes? So the issue may be with your USB connection in your car.
Here are a couple of articles that may help you with this:
iPod Nano User Guide - Setting up iTunes syncing - page 15
http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1624/en_US/ipod_nano_user_guide.pdf
iOS: Troubleshooting car stereo connections

I hope this information helps ...

Feb 11, 2014 1:31 AM in response to judysingsby Diablo7,Hi Judy,
Thanks for your reply. DO you think I should upgrade to the latest I tunes as well.
I figured out this problem.
I still cannot find the file in my car that I put on the nano.
But the way that I resolved it was that I made new playlists which I put my music files on and played the music that way. I gess that was the issue.
But I am going to go over the above links.....

Feb 19, 2014 1:00 PM in response to Diablo7by judysings,Hi Diablo 7,
I always keep my software updated to the latest version. If I'm understanding your resolution ... you created a new playlist on your nano. Then connected the nano to your car stereo and you can now play it? If your car is now reading your nano then the issue is resolved. Is that correct?
