RECYCLE ??? New iPod ? Need to know!

so i heard that if you trade in your ipod classic you get a 10% discount

but what i want to know is that do they take broken ones?(ipod classic doesnt turn on anymore)

and if i do get a 10% discount can it be any apple product or just a new ipod classic
