Why can't my iPhone 5s connect to my Macbook Pro via bluetooth?

I have tried to connect my iphone 5s to my macbook pro via bluetooth, but not successful. I called apple, they could not give me a clear answer, and blamed licensing agreements with my carrier. However, my dad's Samsung Galaxy S4 and my ipad can connect to my macbook pro via bluetooth just fine. What's the issue?

iPhone 5s, iOS 7.0.4

You cannot do that via BT, so don't bother trying. You can use BT on the device to connect to a keyboard or a headset. That's about it.
